MagRestore®, our di-magnesium malate, is a patented form of magnesium. The equine magnesium supplement consists of one molecule of malic acid attached to two molecules of magnesium. It represents an excellent source of magnesium and malic acid with superior bio-availability. In addition, malate does not react with gastric acids, so it does not upset the digestive system. Some other forms of magnesium can cause digestive upset.

Magnesium is found at significant levels throughout the body. It is involved in a number of reactions including muscle relaxation, blood coagulation, and manufacture of ATP, the body’s principal energy molecule.

Magnesium is vital for efficient circulation, the adrenals, hormones, and pulmonary functions among others. Malic acid crosses the blood-brain barrier easily and binds to aluminum in the brain, preventing an unwelcome build-up of the metal. Furthermore, di-magnesium malate is an excellent chelator. By replacing aluminum with magnesium, it eliminates aluminum from the body, at the same time making magnesium available to neurons.

MagRestore Directions:

Per 1000 lb horse: Each scoop/serving (0.52 ounces) contains: Magnesium as di-magnesium malate (2 grams elemental)

Loading Dose / Performance Horse Dose: 2 scoops with AM and PM rations for ten days or until signs of deficiency diminish. Larger horses can increase dosage to 3 scoops AM and PM. Horses in steady work: stay at this dose.
Horses in Light Work: 1 scoop AM and 1 scoop PM after ten days at loading dose.

Is your horse is on omeprazole? Many performance horses are placed on omeprazole during higher-stress seasons to help manage gastric ulcers by reducing stomach acid. When gastric comfort is a focus, nutrition has to be solid everywhere else, too. MagRestore delivers high-quality magnesium to support normal muscle and nerve function and help maintain healthy electrolyte balance. This can be especially valuable for horses in training, traveling, or undergoing management changes.

Possible Side Effects: Loose manure-relieved by a reduction in dosage.

Precautions: Due to magnesium content, animals with renal insufficiency should be monitored by a veterinarian. If animals' condition worsens or does not improve, stop administration and consult your vet. Avoid feeding MagRestore® simultaneously with ulcer medications, slippery elm, over the counter ulcer products, or certain gut health products, as these may inhibit absorption of magnesium. If you are using another supplement thought to interfere with magnesium absorption, feed MagRestore® separately.

Inactive ingredients: rice bran, lecithin, ground flax, wheat bran, brewers yeast, dried molasses flavoring, contains no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

*Our MagRestore Pelleted product has molasses flavor and scent. Please note for IR or foundered horses, the amount of molasses in this product is not enough to raise blood sugar or negatively affect your horse metabolically.

Powdered Variation: Active Ingredient: Magnesium as Di-Magnesium Malate, max 20.38%. Contains no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
